What is an Electrical Certificate?

All electrical installations deteriorate with time and should be inspected and tested every few years for continued service. Such safety checks are known as Electrical Certificates.

Why do I need an Electrical Certificate?

On the 1st of June 2020, the UK Government released guidance on the Electrical Safety Standards in the Private Rented Sector (England) Regulations 2020. All private landlords must ensure that electrical safety standards are met when the property is rented out.

What is the purpose of an Electrical Certificate?

The aims of an Electrical Certificate are:

  • Revealing whether any of the electric circuits or equipment are overloaded.
  • Finding any potential electric shock risks and high temperature or fire hazards.
  • Identifying defective or faulty electrical works or components.
  • Finding any lack of earthing or bonding.

If any dangerous or potentially dangerous conditions are found, the overall condition of the electrical installation will be declared ‘unsatisfactory’ indicating that quick remedial action is required.

Who are capable of producing an Electrical Certificate?

Electrical inspection reports or certificates should be done only by certified persons with expertise in this field like registered electricians. They will check the condition of the electrical components against the UK standard for the safety of electrical installations.

You can depend on us to deliver you Electrical Certificates that are thorough and maintain proper safety standards.
